Israel cutting Palestinian water!

with one comment

Israel is denying Palestinians access to clean, safe water while allowing unlimited supplies to Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank!

Swimming pools, well-watered lawns and large irrigated farms in Israeli settlements… stand in contrast next to Palestinian villages whose inhabitants struggle even to meet their domestic water needs

between 180,000 and 200,000 Palestinians in West Bank rural communities have no access to running water

Israel’s daily water consumption per capita is four times higher than the 20 liters per capita consumed in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (by Palestinians)

Israel, controls much of the West Bank’s supplies, and uses more than 80% of water drawn!

Israel’s war on Gaza early this year left water reservoirs, wells, sewage networks and pumping stations severely damaged.

The water situation in Gaza had now reached a “crisis point,” with 90 to 95 percent of the water supply contaminated and unfit for human consumption.

Palestinians suffer severely of water shortage

Since hundreds of years, and till some years ago, all these lands, and water resources, were totally Palestinian, but everything was taken from them through unfair wars and massacres over the years…

How to “Make” a Zebra?!

with 2 comments

Mohammed Al Bargouthi, A zoo owner in Gaza, came up with a way to add a new specie of animals to his zoo, Farah Land zoo in Gaza, without needing any animals!

The Zebra, is the animal he wants to add to his zoo. Instead of importing them at a cost of 40,000$ and moving them to Gaza through Gaza tunnels, he decided to make them. He got two donkeys, painted them with white painting, and then drew black stripes on them, and that’s it. A great looking Zebra’s ready for children amusement:)

Real ZebraThis is a real Zebra

fony zebra1This is Farah Land’s Zebra, the only of it’s kind in the world:)

Mohammed Al Bargouthi said that the transformation operation didn’t succeed from the first time, and they had to repeat it again.

He also said that Farah Land zoo used to own Zebras among their animal groups. But All the  Zebras died. They were among the victims that were killed during the recent Israeli attack on Gaza strip.

fony zebra2The Phony Zebrafony zebra3Children riding the phony Zebras

Under Israeli siege on Gaza strip, Gaza children were deprived from many of happy things normal children enjoy. Even if these animals look fake, but they succeeded to enter the joy to the heart of children, and to draw a smile on their faces.

This is a new form of resistance, and copyrights are reserved to Gaza.

Quarter of a million on the 3rd friday of Ramadan in Alqsa

with one comment

On the third Friday of the holy month, Ramadan, the ninth month of lunar year and the month of fasting to Muslims, Many palestinians from all over Palestine went to Alqsa mosque in Jerusalem to attend friday prayer and speech. The number of Palestinians is said to be nearly quarter of a million, and this is a small number because many Palestinians can’t get to the mosque because of Isreali barriers.

Al Aqsa mosque, one of three mosques around the world Muslims are urged to visit and pray in. It is in the blessed Jerusalem, and under control of Israeli state.

aqsa2

It was built 2000 years b.c. and is the second mosque built in the world for worshipping Allah. Nowadays, it is attacked by extremist Jewish groups, who are tolerated by the Israeli government. They consistantly digg tunnels underneath the mosque  which affects its foundations. Many Islamic figures in Jerualem warned that the continual of these excavations might lead to the collapse of Al Aqsa mosque, which is the goal of extremist Jewish groups and Israeli authoroties.

Now leaving you with photos of quarter a million Palestinian praying in Alqsa mosque, enjoy =)

These two images show “Qubbat Al Sakhra” or in english “The Dome of the rock” mosque. It was built in Alqsa mosque yard.

However, many Muslims around the world wish to visit AlAqsa mosque to pray. Al Aqsa mosque is under Israeli occupation that makes it hard for Palestinians in Palestine to pray in the mosque, and impossible for Muslims out of Palestine. Muslims put this in their wishlist and ask Allah to grant them this great chance to visit the mosque and make worship.

Happy Ramadan

with 4 comments

Ramadan.. The ninth month of the lunar year, is the month when all Muslims around the world enjoy one of the greatest pillars of Islam, Fasting.

HappyRamadan

For many families, they enjoy the gathering around the dining table for “Iftar”, the time when they break their fasting. But for Palestinians, this gathering brings up their pains, as many of them have prisoners in Israeli jails. Israel has 11,000 Palestinians in their jails. Also, many Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing for the first time to have this meal without their loved ones, especially after 2008 Israeli war on Gaza, known as Gaza Massacre.

It is a ritual for Muslisms to break their fasting with dates. However, many Palestinians break their fasting with water, as dates aren’t availabe in Gaza or with high prices in other Palestinian territories.

تمرDates, the first thing a Muslim eats to break his fasting.

In Ramadan, Muslims have an additional prayer called “Tarawih” which they hold in their mosques. However, people in Gaza pray over ruins or in streets, as the recent Israeli Attack on Gaza ruined about 100 mosques in Gaza.

Israel: ‘White Flag’ Shootings of Gaza Civilians

without comments

During Israel’s recent Gaza offensive, Israeli soldiers unlawfully shot and killed 11 Palestinian civilians, including five women and four children, who were in groups waving white flags to convey their civilian status.

Human Rights Watch said in a report released today: The Israeli military should conduct thorough, credible investigations into these deaths to tackle the prevailing culture of impunity, Human Rights Watch said.

The 11 civilians killed and at least eight wounded comprise a small fraction of the more than 1,100 Palestinian civilians and combatants killed during what Israel called Operation Cast Lead in December 2008 and January 2009. However, these deaths stand out because the civilians were in groups waving a white cloth, T-shirt, or scarf, and no Palestinian fighters were in the area at the time, Human Rights Watch said..

In one case documented in the report, on January 7 in eastern Jabalya, two women and three children from the family of Khalid ‘Abd Rabbo were standing in front of their home after an Israeli soldier ordered them outside – at least three of them holding pieces of white cloth – when a soldier near a tank opened fire, killing two girls, ages 2 and 7, and wounding the third girl and their grandmother.

“We spent seven to nine minutes waving the flags, and our faces were looking at them [the soldiers],” said the grandmother, who was shot twice. “And suddenly they opened fire and the girls fell to the ground.

In each of the incidents, the evidence strongly indicates that, at the least, Israeli soldiers failed to take all feasible precautions to distinguish between civilians and combatants before opening fire, as required by the laws of war. At worst, the soldiers deliberately shot at persons known to be civilians.

United States and the UN condemn Israel

with one comment

Outrage at East Jerusalem evictions

The court decision has defied international protests over Jewish settlement activity in the area [AFP]

The United States and the UN have condemned Israel’s forcible eviction of two Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem.

Washington sent a letter to the Israeli foreign ministry in Jerusalem, stressing the move went against the country’s obligations under the so-called ”road map” to resolve the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

US diplomats said a high-level protest will be communicated to Israel later on Monday.

Speaking after the al-Ghawi and al-Hanoun families were evicted on Sunday, Robert Serry, the United Nations special co-ordinator for the Middle East peace process, said: “I deplore today’s totally unacceptable actions by Israel.

“These actions are contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions related to occupied territory.

“These actions are contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions related to occupied territory.

“These actions heighten tensions and undermine international efforts to create conditions for fruitful negotiations to achieve peace.”

The homes from where the Palestinians were evicted would reportedly give way to a hotel project believed to have been sanctioned by Israel.

In 1982, Israeli settler organisations began demanding rent from the Palestinian families of Sheikh Jarrah, who at that point had been living in the neighbourhood for almost 30 years – and when many of the families refused to pay this rent, the first eviction orders were issued.

The legal proceedings continued over the years, and in 2006 it was ruled by court that the settler organisations did not have rights to the land, and the Israeli land registration department agreed to revoke the settler associations’ ownership.

Despite pending appeals and the lack of legal ownership of land in the neighbourhood, the settler organisations sold their property claim in 2008 to an investment company.

‘Extremist agenda’

The British consulate which, along with other foreign missions, is located in Sheikh Jarrah where the Palestinian families had been living for more than half a century, said it was “appalled”.

The consulate said in a statement: “The Israelis’ claim that the imposition of extremist Jewish settlers into this ancient Arab neighbourhood is a matter for the courts … is unacceptable.

“These actions are incompatible with the Israeli professed desire for peace.

“We urge Israel not to allow the extremists to set the agenda.”

Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian negotiator, said: “Tonight, while these new settlers from abroad will be accommodating themselves and their belongings in these Palestinian houses, 19 newly homeless children will have nowhere to sleep.

“If the Israeli prime minister continues with settlement activities, he will undermine the efforts to revive the peace process.”

‘Civil dispute’

But Yakir Segev, a member of Jerusalem’s municipal council, told Al Jazeera: “These are not actions made by Israel or the Israeli government. This is a matter of the court.

“It is a civil dispute between Palestinian families and those of Israeli settlers, regarding who is the rightful owner of this property … Israeli law is the only law we are obliged to obey.

“This is not part of an Israeli consipiracy …  The court decided that the Arab families are not the rightful owners of the property and this is why they had to be evicted.

“Jerusalem is one united city, in the same way that Arabs can purchase houses and land in the west part of Jerusalem, it’s the same for Jews.”

The eviction on Sunday comes amid international calls for Israel to halt settlement activity on occupied Palestinian land.

Israel to destroy 6000 Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem!

with 2 comments

Home demolitions are on the rise and are carried out under the guise of being unlicensed, but for Palestinians obtaining a license from the occupying Israeli administration is nearly impossible.

The massive demolition will include up to 6,000 Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem. Those without licenses in the city range from between 15 to 20 thousand!

Jewish groups and the occupying Israeli administration are active in Judaizing neighborhoods and buildings in the Old City.

Palestinians do not possess many effective means to resist the Israeli measures aimed at Judaizing the city, only the popular sit-ins, demonstrations and political contacts with the West, especially Western diplomatic missions. But the achievements made by Palestinians in Jerusalem are modest compared to the progress of the settlement project, backed by the Jewish National consensus and Zionist lobby.

The “Spirit of Humanity” Ship from Cyprus, Stopped!

with one comment

ship1 The “spirit of humanity” ship before departure from the port of Larnaca, Cyprus

Israeli gunboats intercepted the “spirit of humanity” ship carrying humanitarian assistance in its way from Cyprus to the Gaza Strip in an attempt to break the Israeli siege. Israeli forces threatened to use force, and asked the ship’s captain to return to Larnaca.

Aljazzera reporter Osman Alaptiri on board of the ship said: the Israeli boats came close to the ” spirit of humanity” ship, and called for the ship’s captain to return from where they come, also threatened to use force against them if they continued moving ahead towards the Gaza Strip.

The ship’s captain told the Israelis that the ship only carries huamnitarian aid to the people of Gaza. But the military forces gave the ship five minutes to return, or they will use force to prevent the ship from proceeding to Gaza Strip. Their execuse was that Gaza is a war zone and it is not allowed to enter.

The reporter said that Israeli forces disrupted the navigation devices on the ship. He pointed out that Israeli forces may repeat previous scenarios when they faced other ships heading to Gaza. They hit the “ship of dignity” which was heading to Gaza and almost caused it to drown. They jumped to “Lebanese brotherhood” ship,  arrested and escorted all its passengers after beating some of them.

The “spirit of humanity” ship has left the Cypriot port of Larnaca, heading to Gaza on Monday morning in order to break the siege imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip. The ship carryies twenty political activist and jurist, Arab and Westerners, in addition to medical aid and medicines.

Among the passengers are the previous Congress U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, and the winner of the Nobel Prize Mariad Macquaer Corrigan, and other activists from Britain, Ireland, Jamaica and Bahrain.

The departure from Larnaca after four days of delay due to political pressure exerted from the Israeli government on Cyprus to prevent the ship from sailing.  Each passenger carries 1 kg of cement, an olive tree plant, some school materials, and construction tools as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the inhabitants of Gaza strip.

The campaign, “Freedom for Gaza” have succeeded in the conduct of five cruises to Gaza since August 2008, in defiance of Israeli siege over Gaza since the control of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in 2007.

Israel: We Won’t Bow to American Request

FOXNews.com: An official close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will not agree to U.S. demands to freeze settlement activity in the West Bank.

Sunday, May 31, 2009 //my comments

Israeli settlmentA map shows Israeli settlements in the west bank of palestine, bbc.

Israel will not agree to U.S. demands to freeze all settlement activity in the West Bank, the AFP reported an official close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as saying. //Well, Israel will still take the money and support they want from America, why not do what they want? It was the first high-level reaction to President Obama’s call Thursday during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that Israel stop settlement activity, a key hurdle in Mideast peace talks. //after recent brutal Israeli attack on Gaza, what piece are they talking about? Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said last Sunday Israel will continue to build homes in existing West Bank settlements, but would not allow any new settlements to be created. //Tom and Jerry game “We will not build new settlements,” he said, according to remarks released by his office. “But it is not fair not to provide a solution to natural growth.” //may be cancer is a natural growth too! Obama met Thursday with Abbas and challenged Israelis and Palestinians to be fair brokers in the quest for peace, calling on Israel to stop settlement construction in the West Bank. “We can’t continue with the drift, with the increased fear and resentment on both sides, the sense of hopelessness around the situation that we’ve seen for many years now,” Obama said, referring to the idea of Palestinians and Israelis living peacefully as neighbors. “We need to get this thing back on track.” “I am confident that we can move this process forward,” Obama said after meeting with Abbas at the White House. The president said that means both sides must “meet the obligations that they’ve already committed to” — an element of the peace effort that has proved elusive for years. Abbas told The Associated Press after the session with Obama that no meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are on the horizon. He said there are no preconditions for such a meeting but “obligations” on Israel through the so-called road map for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Abbas said he is meeting his commitments under the road map and that Israel should do the same. He cited continued settlement construction as a commitment Israel is not meeting.

Be a minister, and go right to jail!

without comments

May be being a minister is a dream for politicians in many countries, however in Palestine, no it’s not. This news from Aljazeera.net:

Israel releases senior Hamas MP

Hamas has suggested that Dweik could become a possible candidate for the presidency [AFP]

Israel has released the Hamas speaker of the Palestinian parliament, Abdul Aziz Dweik, who was jailed for nearly three years over his ties to the group.

Dweik’s release followed an Israeli prosecutor’s failure to persuade a military court to extend the prison term, which was due to end in August.

Israel detained Dweik, 60, and nearly 40 other Hamas politicians in the occupied West Bank in 2006 after Hamas fighters captured Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier, on the boundary of the Gaza Strip.

The arrests paralysed the Palestinian Legislative Council, dominated by Hamas since defeating the Western-backed Fatah faction in a parliamentary election earlier in 2006.

Since then, Hamas has accused Israel of trying to pressure the group into freeing the soldier.

Dweik’s future

Dweik, who Hamas have suggested could become a possible candidate for the presidency, was taken to a hospital in Israel several times to be treated for high blood pressure and diabetes during his imprisonment.

It remains unclear whether his health conditions contributed to the decision to release him. His lawyer, Fadi Kawasimi, said inmates’ terms routinely are shortened by several months for good behaviour.

Hamas did not reveal whether Dweik would resume his duties as parliament speaker.

Al Jazeera’s Jacky Rowland reported that Dweik declined to answer questions from reporters and said he would issue a statement from the Palestinian parliament in the West Bank city of Ramallah later in the day.

She also said that this is not a time of celebration for the Palestinians as dozens of Hamas parliamentary members still remain in Israeli jails.

“He will be very keen to remind people of the fact that although he is out, many of his fellow parliamentarians are still being held in Israeli jails, many of whom haven’t been given a trial,” she said.

After the 2 year-old Feras, child Yaser is waiting death

4211_1034740443874_1686338800_60216_4449840_n

Gaza, May 15, (Pal Telegraph) – Yasser Ahmed Al Swasi is a 12 year old child living in the Gaza Strip where the ongoing siege still suffocates 1.5 million Gazans. Gazans are not permitted to leave the strip, even for medical care denials are frequent. Yasser hasn’t left his own bed for two years, as he suffers critical health problems. Yassers’ life depends on a respiratory machine, he cannot breathe on his own. The recent diagnosis of Yasser was quadriplegia, and punctured larynx. He has been transferred to an Egyptian hospital for an operation that will cost $150, 000. “The surgical operation will be performed by an American specialist doctor”.

Inquiring about his condition out of curiosity, I asked him “How are you Yasser?” In a very tiny voice full of sadness he replied “I have no chance to live as I am bedridden since two years ago, and nothing changed”. His condition is severe, due to paralysis he’s unable to do anything without assistance. Moving closer to him, I can see his body keeps shaking. Yasser requires moment to moment care from his parents. The medical device which enables him to breath is powered by electricity. He ans his family live in constant fear of power cuts.

Yasser has not received any education since his accident, due to his bedridden status. “Yasser is my oldest son. He is so clever and he always keeps good reputation among his peers and the people around” said the father. “As all young children who witnessed the recent war in Gaza, Yasser struggled emotionally during the bombing and air strikes” his father added. During my visit, I noticed a completely destroyed home closely to Yasser’s.

When the neighboring home was destroyed, Yasser was left without power for an extended period, forced to rely on backup generators to survive. “We were so scared of his health condition deteriorating during the war” said his father. His father nformed us his medical operation is so sensitive, and the operations necessary for improvement very costly. “No one helping us to afford this operation, it costs $150 000; I keep searching for associations to help us find funding to improve Yassers health condition” said the father

Those are British people, they are marching to show their sympathy and support to Palestinian people who were taken out from their land, Palestine, in 1948, and still insist to return. And to Palestinian people still living in Jerusalem, west bank, and Gaza, and struggling to have freedom and life.

What is really ironic is that no Arabic country – as far as i know – had such marches and that the British government is the one who handed Palestine for jews to renounce Israel !

And now, Only in britain  a march on the 61 anniversery for Palestine loss was launched !
